0

SSP will be showcasing some of their most popular products at the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics show being held on 21st to 23rd March this year at stand number M116. After launching their new branding at last year’s show, the team have had a very busy 2016 developing bespoke springs and pressings for their many customers in a variety of sectors including the construction, electronics, medical, avionics and the military industries.

They have also been investing heavily in the business, with the purchase of new equipment and machinery, to ensure they continue to provide their customers with the most innovative and cost-effective methods of production. A new de-burring machine was delivered in 2016, which will allow SSP to achieve high value-added surface improvements to ensure a quality finish on all products.

After investing in a new inspection department, which is now in operation, the previous one was completely refurbished and upgraded which has generated more space and a brighter working environment with the use of LED lighting.

The introduction of industry 4.0 (the 4th industrial revolution) has resulted in the need for the manufacturing sector to develop smart factories in order to remain competitive and to develop products for the future. With this in mind, SSP have been developing strategies to improve their internal systems and their manufacturing capabilities for the future. SSP have been working on a bespoke IT system which is now in operation and ensures they keep track of all their customer orders and stock levels. The information is updated automatically and displayed throughout the factory, ensuring ‘real time’ information can be accessed by multiple channels and on various devices.

SSP have also installed a new Press Production line in response to a large increase in long-term orders within the “flat pressings” part of SSP`s manufacturing abilities. The new 55 ton Chin Fong Power Press and ancillary equipment will produce various products at up to 120 part per minute. The new production line will allow SSP to meet customer demands in a time efficient manner and also incorporate advanced features such as computer controlled load monitors to increase tool life and improved safety. New equipment for the tool room has also been purchased and installed in order to ensure a cost-effective and efficient service.

Further investment is planned during the next financial year with improvements to both the wire and presswork sections of the business.

The SSP team are looking forward to exhibiting at the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics and will be running a competition to win a £100 Amazon voucher, for your chance to win pop along to stand number M116 and enter.

Tim Page, Managing Director at SSP said “We have made some significant investments in the SSP business, we are really excited about presenting these at the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show this year”.
