Southern Manufacturing & Electronics expands for 2019

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics, the UK’s largest annual engineering show, returns to Farnborough from February 5th to 7th 2019.

The move to a new permanent venue last year proved a resounding success with both visitors and exhibitors, prompting a surge in stand bookings for the 2019 show. The organisers are forecasting a 20% increase in exhibitors for 2019, which will bring the show to its maximum capacity.

Southern Manufacturing is considered by many of its loyal supporters to be the UK’s premier industrial engineering show; it is undoubtedly the largest annual gathering of engineering firms in the UK, with around 800 companies expected to participate in 2019. The show covers an extensive range of products and services from both the electronics and manufacturing production sectors. The size of the event and its location at the centre of one of the UK’s key manufacturing regions makes it an essential one for numerous big-name firms from all over the UK, continental Europe and beyond. Bookings from non-UK firms have increased a remarkable 26% for 2019, making the show a great place to see companies that you’d not likely encounter at any other domestic show.

This international flavour combined with the importance of the event to the myriad of smaller engineering firms across the South delivers a unique visitor experience. Covering both electronics and mechanical engineering, Southern Manufacturing & Electronics is a leading marketplace for components, production hardware and engineering services. The sheer diversity of suppliers taking part means that multiple sourcing issues can be addressed in a single, convenient visit.

Along with a record number of exhibitors expected, the show has formalised links with several influential industry organisations, including Composites UK, the Confederation of British Metalforming, Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, The British Gear Association, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the Gauge and Toolmakers Association. The partnerships will enable the roll-out of new show features and access to authoritative technical expertise via the show’s comprehensive free technical seminar programme, open to all visitors. Some of the new areas to be addressed as part of the 2019 programme include a look at incremental sheet forming processes, automated mould design and large-scale 3D printing.

Visitors to Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019 will recognise many regular exhibitors, among them Bystronic UK, Mazak, Filtermist, C. Dugard, Matsuura, Renishaw, Hurco and YMT Technologies, plus some notable returnees to the show. Citizen Machinery UK will exhibit for the first time since 2007, joined by other major former exhibitors such as Mitutoyo (UK), Schmidt Technology, Rapid Electronics and LNS Turbo amongst others. New exhibitors for 2019 include Instrutec Controls, Oemeta UK, Polydist UK and display specialists Canvys.

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019 opens from February 5th to 7th. Admission to the show is free. More information and tickets are available from the event’s website while the Farnborough Exhibition and Conference Centre offers free on-site car parking and is easily reached by road, air or public transport.
