The 28th of January saw the Manufacturing Technologies Association’s (MTA) Annual Dinner, held for the first time at the Vox on the NEC site, Birmingham. Over 400 guests enjoyed a great night with friends, colleagues and contacts from across the industry.
The evening also had a charitable aspect which saw £14,707 raised in donations for the MTA President’s Charity the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Association. Guests at the dinner participated in an auction, biding on a wide range of prizes from a Caribbean cruise to a tandem parachute jump supplied by REME and a host of other lots to help raise the impressive total in support of the charity.
“Our primary function is to provide Combat Service Support to the army and its equipment; the demands this places sometimes result in our officers and soldiers needing our support,” explained Colonel DG Scott ADC – Colonel REME. “This is the core purpose of the ‘REME Charity’ which exists to deliver welfare and benevolence, the maintenance of Corps Ethos, as well as support sport and recreation which develops strong team cohesion and reinforces friendships. On behalf of the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) we are extremely thankful to the MTA and those who kindly donated at their Annual Dinner.”
MTA CEO James Selka added, “The MTA has had a long association with military charities and are signed up to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. We are proud to help support ex-servicemen and women in civilian life and we hope the sum raised at this year’s dinner will aid the REME charity to continue their excellent work.”
