Exhibiting on stand K90 at the 2019 Advanced Engineering Exhibition, Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies (CWST) provides high-quality surface treatments for improving the life and performance of critical components through its global network of over 70 operating divisions and specialist on-site teams.
Building on the unique heritage of Glenn Curtiss and the Wright brothers, Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies has a long tradition of providing innovative solutions and building solid and trusted customer relationships.
The company’s surface treatments have been successfully used by OEM’s in major industries such as aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, subsea, medical and power generation for many years.
CWST is only too aware of the logistical challenges and costs faced by its customers and so can offer a one-stop-shop solution, providing a wide range of surface treatments including controlled shot and laser shock peening, bespoke and trade coating applications, engineered coatings, thermal spray coatings and Parylene coatings for metal, alloy silicone, plastics and electronic components as well as analytical services.
CWST offers its customers a single-source solution and point of contact for all their surface treatment, supporting their requirements through the company’s facilities and on-site field teams, improving and reducing turnaround times and costs.
Problem solving
Component failure is usually due to a sequence or combination of events which can initiate from the design and choice of materials through to manufacturing processing and assembly – including the application of heat, welding and grinding, as well as machining and distortion of the part due to bending, rolling or forging.
In-service conditions can also contribute to the failure of a part such as variation in temperature and environmental conditions, uneven, high or low cyclic loads or stress profiles, compression, torsion and bending as well as foreign object damage. Matching the maintenance needs of a component to its operating conditions and environment is also important to reduce the effects of ageing and wear.
CWST’s facilities use state of the art robotic equipment which has been designed and manufactured in-house specifically for its customers’ work. The company maintains its position at the forefront of new materials and technology by maintaining strong links with industry associations and being actively involved in research and development projects.
CWST supports every stage of the manufacturing process from design and new manufacture through to in-service maintenance, repair and overhaul of components – increasing the strength and performance of parts and reducing costs and downtime.
