The EPMA are proud to announce that they have appointed Dr. Lionel Aboussouan as EPMA Deputy Executive Director, to succeed Mr Jonathan Wroe, who passed away late last year.

Dr. Aboussouan officially started with the EPMA on 22 February 2016 and will be taking over the day-to-day running of the Association, its staff and projects.

Lionel has previously worked at Arcelor Research and the World Steel Association, which represents over 150 steel producers (including 9 of the world’s 10 largest steel companies), national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes.

More recently he was employed at ArcelorMittal as the Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, for one of Arcelormittal business units. Lionel was responsible for the creation of procedures, standards and indicators for health & safety legislation within his business units. He implemented and operated training courses for production leaders up to management committees, setting and enforcing ISO standards throughout the production sites to adhere to 14001, 9001 and OHSAS 18001 certification.

“Many of Lionel’s skills and working practises that he has gained over his working career will be a real asset to the EPMA moving forward” explained EPMA President Mr Phillippe Gundermann. He went onto say “Lionel will build on the firm foundations left by Jonathan and work with EPMA Members, staff and stakeholders to continue the success of one of Europe’s leading trade associations.”

The EPMA staff look forward to welcoming Lionel into his new role and making the transition as seamless as possible. I am sure as an EPMA Member, you will also want to wish Lionel well in his new role and welcome him to the PM industry.

Dr. Volker Arnhold, former GKN Executive Manager and EPMA Board & Council Member, has been recruited as a temporary Executive Director for the EPMA to assist Lionel with support during his introductory period and to ensure a smooth and legal transition for the EPMA at the EPMA’s 29th General Assembly on the 8 April 2016, Brussels, Belgium.
