As the lead UK trade association for the safety and health industry, the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) is delighted to be joining forces with key stakeholdersfor this year’s Safety & Health Expo, from 21st to 23rd June at ExCeL, as it prepares to headline and relaunch the enhanced Registered Safety Suppliers Scheme (RSSS) designed to enhance the quality of personal protective equipment provided to the occupational safety user.

Alongside the BSIF, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), the Health & Safety Laboratory (HSL) and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE)and Trading Standards are all at the centre of safeguarding the implementation of effective heath and safety strategies within a successful business framework. Therefore their assembly at Expo 2016 presents a united approach to worker safety and health.

Further to the BSIF working with a new strategy focus, the RSSS is at the forefront of ensuring that PPE is correctly tested and certified to meet the appropriate European standard. In the past year, inadequate PPE has hit the headlines on several occasions from safety footwear toe cap failures to banned chemicals in leather gloves and non compliant high-vis vests so a relaunch of the RSSS is particularly pertinent – the message being anyone can sell safety but you wouldn’t buy safety from anyone.

In addition to being an Expo show partner, the BSIF will also present its annual Safety Awards for Product Innovation, Service and Safety Excellence which will be announced at a high profile reception on the first day of the show.
