The British Compressed Gases Association has completed a comprehensive review of one of its most widely consulted safety guidance codes within the manufacturing sector.

Code of Practice 7, ‘The Safe Use of Oxy-Fuel Gas Equipment (Individual, Portable or Mobile Cylinder Supply)’ has been brought completely up-to-date by the trade body, to include the latest information and guidance to support a safe environment in manufacturing.

Available for free download from the publications area of the BCGA website, Code of Practice 7 is one of the most commonly accessed documents within the association’s extensive library of safety material.

Information featured includes legislation, examination, inspection and maintenance and an overview of significant hazards, as well as advice on equipment, cylinder storage and handling, setting up, closing down, emergency procedures and security.

Doug Thornton, Chief Executive of the British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA), said: “The revised code details the minimum safety standards required for the assembly, examination, inspection, maintenance and use of individual portable or mobile cylinder oxy-fuel gas equipment, in circumstances where each gas is supplied from a cylinder and individually controlled by a cylinder-mounted pressure regulator.
